Farmhouse Décor: Inspiration for This Silhouette Cameo Project
Nobody gets tired of the sight of beautiful, rustic farmhouse décor.
There is a sort of magic in the earthy style. It’s unpretentious, blatant, and just feels real.
And, if one of your happiest childhood memories is playing in the mud, then you probably already love it.
If you have flipped your fair share of any lifestyle magazine pages, you should know that it is already trending, with people booking barns for weddings to those who would just like something that looks warm and cozy as their family home.
But isn’t rustic décor old-fashioned? So why are people going gaga over it?
It is because rustic interiors are beyond just that aesthetic appeal. They give you a sense of connection to the past.
Rustic interiors are the epitome of the art of repurposing. They celebrate authenticity.
Of course, that’s one of the reasons that the HGTV Show, “Fixer-Upper” is so popular these days. Their style along with their personalities are authentic and real. And, who doesn’t love that?
The Star of this Silhouette Cameo Project:
And the best bit about this recently glamorized rustic décor is a particular object that is making a major comeback: *drum roll* the cow! Yes, the unpretentious, sweet COW!
As you may have noticed, art prints of cows are everywhere online. There are colorful ones and black & white ones. Here are some links to a few cow prints that I like:
So, when I found this robin-colored metal tray at a local gift store recently, I couldn’t help but wonder how it would look if I added a cute little cow picture and message to it.
I am, by the way, a Texas-raised Cubanita.
And, if you can’t find a tray like mine, here is a rustic serving tray on Amazon that would work well. Galvanized Metal Rustic Serving Tray w/Jute Rope Handles Set of 2 If you like the blue color, it would be easy to spray paint.
Instructions for Silhouette Cameo Project:
I found this cute little saying and pulled out my trusty Silhouette Cameo to cut out the vinyl letters.
- Download the cow template here.
- Upload it to your Silhouette Cameo, size it to your particular tray size and cut the design with black vinyl.
For those of you unfamiliar with how to cut a PNG file, remember to use the “trace” function. It’s very easy to apply. And, many YouTube videos on the subject can help. Write to me if you need more help.
I used Oracal vinyl in black which you can buy through Amazon. Oracal 651 Black Adhesive Craft Vinyl for Cricut, Silhouette, Cameo, Craft Cutters, Printers, and Decals – 12″ x 12″ Sheets – Gloss Finish – Outdoor and Permanent ((25) Sheets)
And, here’s my silhouette cameo – an indispensable tool for many crafters!
- Last step: Affix the vinyl to the tray. And, voila! It’s done!
Once completed, the tray looked super cute and very much in style with the popular rustic farmhouse décor.
Of course, you can use his cow template on cards, trays and signs! It’s plain adorable!
And, while you’re at it, why not make some ice-cold Almond Tea and serve it on your new gorgeously crafted tray?
