Learn How to Make Handmade Mother’s Day Cards (and Father’s Day too) Using Word Clouds
I so enjoy making greeting cards.
And, I make handmade cards for most holidays, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day included.
But, this year I wanted to make the handmade Mother’s Day cards a bit different; I wanted to try something new.
So, I thought I would check out Word Clouds. A Word Cloud takes words and creates graphical shapes from them. It’s a super cool way to create art or handmade cards using words.
There are many free word cloud generators online, and most are easy to use. I like Tagxedo, http://www.tagxedo.com/ since it seems the easiest for use and it was FREE.
Anyway, using Tagxedo, I created a few graphics for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Here are a few that I made (these links are for the printables and they are downloadable!).
Here’s a Mother’s Day Word Cloud in the form of a heart.
Here’s a Father’s Day Word Cloud in the shape of an Oval.
You can create customized word clouds by inserting the words you want to use in the Tagxedo software and then choosing or uploading a shape. The sky’s the limit here, folks! You can get as creative as you like.
For example, the Mother’s Day words that I used to make the Handmade Mother’s Day cards were generic to appeal to most mothers. But, you could customize it by using your mother’s name, birthplace, kids names, favorite hobbies and other words that have meaning to her! And, if she’s a big coffee drinker, well, just make the words into the shape of a coffee cup!
The card then becomes even more personal and meaningful. And, you know mom’s and dad’s love that!
Ok, so here are the cards that I created using Word Clouds.
Hope you try using Word Clouds for your greeting cards or for art work. And, don’t forget to let me know how it went!
