One of my favorite craft mediums is button art. I can only go for so long before I need my button art fix.
And, if you try this project, you may become similarly afflicted!
A few years ago, I was going through one of those phases when I started working on this little yellow button bird. He turned out so adorable that he soon became a favorite. So, of course, I have to share him with you.
I made this little bird button art before I was blogging, so I don’t have a lot of pictures or instructions to give you. But, I do have the template which fits an 8 x 10-inch frame. And, with the template and some basic instructions, you should be able to make him without any problems.
It’s not hard to find the yellow, black and red buttons and cabochons. They are available on Amazon at reasonable prices. However, if you have some buttons at home, use them! It’s time to dust off that button jar. And, this little bird is worth it!
And, if you need additional guidance on how to make button art, check out this post I wrote a bit earlier. It gives a complete overview that would also help you complete this project. For example, it would tell you which glue to use and much more.
And, after that post, if you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ask me! I’d love to hear from you!
I colored the brown tree limb using a brown gel pen. It was easy even for a non-artist like myself to do. But, I do remember being a bit concerned that it would not look right and totally ruin the look. But, it didn’t! So, you don’t have to worry.
The Button Bird makes a cute DIY gift for a little one!
This little button bird would make a beautiful and unique baby gift for a new mother. And, it would be a treasured gift since it was handmade by you.
And, if you want to take it a step further, you could customize it by writing or stenciling the child’s name on the bottom. Or, if you have a Silhouette Cameo, you could cut out a cute saying or the child’s name in black or red vinyl to match.
Anyway, I hope you try to make this little button bird! And, if you do, drop me a note!
